Power sweep whip head, chain, cable or viper and steel star?

I have just done a pot lined open fire following a chimney fire. I used these in order and got loads out with the smaller whip head then got not much out with the chain, got more out with the cable whip and got nothing further with the stainless steel star.

So chain and star not as good as cable.

I think I would have gone for the Don then if there was any tar left ( usually the fire gets rid of it)
Then the steel cable as you said.
Don't have chains and never needed them.

Careful with the chains Jules. They can get stuck in the joints, or worse break fragile clay liners and knock small stones etc, out from under pots in the top of the stack..

I have Rod tech stuff and I use the scrubber (which is like the Don king) for most tarry chimneys. occasionally I use the cable. Then if it's still bad I creaway. But not often needed if I take my time.

( I bought some tougher strimmer nylon which is very effective. But like everything you have to judge whats best)

I thought I could do with a stiffer version like the super scrub. Finding suitable strimmer stuff is difficult so I'm thinking a bobtec one and make an adaptor

I found some grey ribbed strimmer nylon on a reel at the local garden centre where they sell and maintain lawn mowers etc.
it's about 4.5mm but really stiff . just have to be sure that it's not so ridged it doesn't splay out enough when it's spinning.

I would only use it in clays as cast or metal might get damaged I should think
